Space Planning

In order to implement the care and attention to the new immigrants, Taichung City Government has forged an exclusive space for the cultural exchange and study of the new immigrants. Therefore, "Taichung City New Immigrant Arts Center" (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) has been established to build a platform for the exchange of information about the city's new immigrants, and to promote and publicize the fellow countrymen's magnanimity, acceptance, equal treatment and affirmation of the different cultural ethnic groups, strengthening the fellow countrymen's concept of multi-culture. The Center has been open since its completion on July 19, 2014. The interior space includes exhibition area, study classroom, reading area, writing area, social area, service desk, children's play room and breastfeeding room.

  • The Center has a new immigrants’ theme-exhibition area at the lobby which is open to the public to visit so as to shorten the distance between new immigrants and citizens, thereby helping fellow countrymen and new immigrants to understand multi-culture, and promoting cultural exchanges.
  • The study classroom is a learning environment that can accommodate 20 people. It is provided free of charge when the city government agencies and organizations hold study courses that meet the needs of new immigrants or conferences to discuss new immigrants' issues.
  • The reading area and the writing area are mainly placed with the multi-language literature materials related to the new immigrants compiled by various agencies in this city so as to provide the new immigrants for reading.
  • The social area and the bar-style service desk are a communication environment that creates a comfortable atmosphere. It is hoped that the new immigrants and citizens who come here can relax and visit freely, sit here, chat and share each other's life experience and so on.
  • The children's play room is warmly furnished and collects books for children. It is provided for the new immigrants who come to attend the class to take care of their accompanying children so that they can study with peace of mind.
