Nearly 100 Teachers and Students from Tunghai University Visited Taichung City Hall to Talk about Smart City and Housing Justice

Taichung City Government is committed to promoting smart cities and youth housing. In teacher Huang Hsin-Ta’s and Chen Chien-Jen’s planning, nearly 100 students of Department of Political Science from Tunghai University visited Taichung City Government for relocation teaching today (15). The government team led by Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-Hsin exchange the city's digital net zero twin transition and housing justice issues with the teachers and students to promote students to have a more comprehensive understanding of government policy promotion and related works and to comprehensive understanding of public participation awareness. The program aims to promote a more comprehensive understanding of government policies and work content and then cultivate a sense of public participation.

 Deputy Mayor Cheng said that the population of Taichung City has exceeded 2,850,000. The continually increasing population showing that Taichung is a booming city. The city government has continued to invest in various major construction, such as the Blue Line MRT, Shizheng Road running through Taichung Industrial Park and Shuinan Trade and Economic Park, which is adjacent to Tunghai University. And the issue young people most concerned about, housing justice issue, in the mayor Lu Shiow-Yen's efforts, the number of social housing households has reach 6, 590 including completed and building ones and continue to accelerate progress to the goal of 10,000 households to create a model city with both sustainable development and housing justice.

 The Director of Digital Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lin Gulong, pointed out that Mayor Lu's "digital power is the competitiveness of the city" has pushed Taichung to be a smart city with digital governance. The city government has spared no effort in building a digital citizen platform, e-Taichung app, which integrates a number of convenient services for the public, such as online application, online payment, and discount promotions, etc. The app received warm welcome with the number of downloads exceeded 2,390,000 times, and it has even won many international awards last year, which demonstrates Taichung's soft power towards becoming a smart city.

 Taichung City Government Housing Development Department Deputy Chief Chen Jing-yi said that attracting young people to take root in Taichung is an important policy objective of the city government. The city government is fully committed to the promotion of social housing, and the progress of Taichung Good Home is ahead of schedule; at the same time, the one-stop portal "Taichung City Social Housing 17 rent" provides services like convenient online application, viewing of the house, and other services to create social housing services that is much more friendly and close to the citizens.

 Today's visit to Tunghai University included the attendance of Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-Hsin, Advisory Officer Yen Nai-lun, Director of Digital Affairs Bureau Lin Ku-Lung, Director of Information Bureau Luan Zhi-Yi, Commissioner of Secretariat Xie Jia-Zhen, and Deputy Chief of Housing Development Department Chen Jing-yi, who exchanged views with nearly 100 Tunghai students and faculty members, as well as the presence of Taichung City Government Consultant Kuo Da-hong, a adjunct instructor at the Department of Political Science at Tunghai University.
