Taichung Smart City Achievement Press Conference: 3 Highlights Taichung City Government Promotes Urban Competitiveness through Digital Power

The 2024 Smart City Achievement Press Conference concluded successfully on March 22nd. Taichung Smart City Achievement Press Conference was held in the exhibition with four major themes of digital transition combined with net-zero transition. Not only did Taichung City Government's digital citizen platform "e-Taichung app" win the first international recognition of 2024 GO SMART Award, the four-day exhibition also created nearly 100,000 visitors, including many representatives of domestic and foreign cities. The visit of representatives and experts from industry, academia and research demonstrates Taichung's outstanding achievements in the promotion of smart cities, and also fulfills Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen's advocacy that "Digital power is the city's competitiveness! "

 Lin Ku-Lung, Director of Digital Affairs Bureau of the city government, said that there are three major breakthroughs in the exhibition this year. Firstly, the number of visitors to the conference has reached a record high, exceeding 100,000 visitors during the four-day exhibition period. Secondly, the number of booths in Taichung's exhibition area and space this year ranked second among the six capitals, which is the largest exhibition scale since Taichung participated in the Smart City Exhibition; the third is that the experts, scholars, and government officials who have visited Taichung's exhibition area come from all over the world, including United States, Malaysia, Korea and other 11 countries, 15 groups of government or industry representatives have organized visits. Thirdly, experts, scholars, and government officials from 11 countries, including the United States, Malaysia, and Korea, and 15 groups of government or industry representatives participated in the exhibition. These three achievements show that the development of smart cities is a topic of international importance, and that the development of smart cities in Taichung is not only in line with the trend of the world's twin transition, but also one of the world's best-known brands for the development of smart cities.

 Director Lin mentioned that the exchange of smart city promotion results can help cohesion and jointly promote digital development, and this is a two-way interaction. In addition to sending representatives to visit Taichung exhibition area by target cities like Taipei, Seoul, South Korea, the United States, Maryland, Digital Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government organize a cross-bureau delegation to visit the major cities, including their industries, digital solutions, thereby continue to promote the development of Taichung's smart city and the optimization of municipal services. Taichung City welcomes all sectors to join hands with Taichung to promote and realize the vision of smart city.

 According to Digital Affairs Bureau, the Taichung exhibition area displays four themes: Smart Living, Smart Transportation, Smart Environment, and Smart Governance, presenting Taichung City's smart solutions to various issues like environmental policies and municipal services. Among them, "Smart Life" showcases convenient services such as XR real-life employment and one-finger search of real estate information; "Smart Transportation" displays intelligent applications such as the Taichung- Changhua- Nantou Investment Coalition Traffic Coordination and Control system to improve transport efficiency; "Smart Environment" showcases projects such as the IoT for air quality sensing and improves air quality through technological assistance; and "Smart Governance" displays applications such as e-Taichung app and Open Data. The exhibition showcased a wealth of technology applications such as IoT and AR/VR, allowing the public to gain an in-depth understanding of how the government utilizes technology to govern the city and the achievements of its efforts to create a livable, smart, sustainable and net-zero city.

 The Bureau pointed out that the domestic and international VIPs who visited the Taichung exhibition area included Mayor of Montgomery County, Maryland, USA Marc Elrich, Mayor of Siauliai, Lithuania Artūras Visockas,; Member of Miri City Council, Malaysia Cr. Abdullah bin Jaini, and Chairman of the Seoul Digital Foundation, South Korea Yosik Kang. Domestic visitors includes Members of the Legislative Yuan Liao Wei-Xiang, Taipei City council member Liu Cai-Wei and Yang Chik-Du, Director of Department of Information and Tourism of Taipei City Government Wang Qiu-Dong, Director of Department of Information Technology of Taipei City Government Zhao Shi-Long, Director of Department of Labor of Taipei City Government Gao Bao-hua, Chairperson of Smart City and Community Development Commission of Taoyuan City Government Wu Zhao-Ming, Director of Police Department Wu Kun-Xu, Director of NUST Meta-Universe XR Research and Development Center Cao Shiao-Ying, and Associate Professor of Ming Chuan University Lin Mian-Xiang
