Central and local governments join forces! Digital Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government holds information security forum to strengthen industry-government-academia linkage

With the rapid development of science and technology, the importance of information security cannot be ignored. The Digital Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government and the National Chung Hsing University cooperate through Information Technology and Personal Information Security Industry-Academic Alliance. In "Information Security Governance under twin transition forum" held in Taichung today (6th) ", nearly a hundred central and local government units at all levels were invited to share the latest information security trends with Wu Qi-xun, a big wheel in domestic and foreign information security and the editor-in-chief of "iThome". Lin Ku-Lung, Director of Digital Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, said that today’s forum brought together nearly a hundred experts among experts, including central government agency information experts and Central Taiwan regional governance platform partners.  Through experience sharing and exchanging, information talents gathered to brainstorm and work together to consolidate information security.

 This "Information Security Governance under Twin Transition" forum invited Wu Qi-xun, editor-in-chief of iThome Electronic Weekly Culture, which hosted the 2023 Taiwan Information Security Conference, as a keynote speaker. With the theme of "Information Security Digital Governance Trends", he shared insights from iThome 2023 CIO The Information Security Survey to Taiwan’s latest digital policies and information security threats and challenges. In addition, information industry leaders from Systex Software, Microsoft Taiwan, and VMware also shared the latest information security specifications and technology applications.

Director Lin said that he was honored to cooperate with the National Chung Hsing University Information Technology and Personal Information Security Industry-Academic Alliance and invite information experts to gather in Taichung to share the latest information security trends. The Digital Affairs Bureau was established at the end of last year, actively establishing close ties with industry, government, academia and research, and actively seeking resource form central government so as to promote Taichung City into a smart city with comprehensive development.

 Director Lin pointed out that since the establishment of the Digital Affairs Bureau, the bureau has been committed to promoting the goals of "smart governance" and "promoting application". In addition to actively improving the open data platform and field verification mechanism, the bureau has also worked with private creativity to promote public-private collaboration. Under the wave of technological development and the digital era, governments at all levels are actively introducing emerging technologies to improve its governance. Consequently, the importance of information security and personal data protection is increasing.

 Director Lin emphasized that the Digital Affairs Bureau has proposed Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform proposal to take personnel training and expertise exchange of information security as the platform's goal. The proposal has received support from the platform's county mayors, and the concept of regional information security cooperation has also been affirmed by Ministry of Digital Affairs. Among the nearly 100 participants in today's forum, nearly 40% are information personnel from central government units, and nearly 20% are county and city member partners of the Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform. It can be seen that "information security is national security". Within this shared goal, everyone is welcome to discuss and optimize information policies with Taichung City Government and conduct information security technology exchanges.

 Professor Lin Yong-zhang, the host of National Chung Hsing University Information Communications and Personal Information Security Technology and Service Industry-Academic Alliance, also said that information security protection itself is a process of collaborative cooperation. He affirmed that Digital Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government joining hands with the Central Taiwan Regional Governance Platform to promote joint information security defense work is a very pragmatic and commendable approach. It is hoped that in the future, central Taiwan regions can establish an "Information Security Alliance" to further expand from county and city government cooperation with industry, government, academia and research to extend to the private sector. So that, the public units can assist the booming industry sectors in central Taiwan to consolidate information security and make information security protection more thorough and complete.

 The participants the information security forum today also include Chen Yu-yu, deputy general manager of Systex Software, Cai Jing-ying, chief architect of Microsoft Technology Center, Lin Xin-yi, general manager of Lydsec Digital Technology, Huang Yuan-qing, senior technical consultant of Trend Micro, Zhang Zhiy-uan, senior associate of VMware NSX, and Fortinet senior Technical consultant Yang Guang-ming, Nutanix senior technical consultant Chen Yong-heng and others.
