Taichung City Pork Production and Marketing Group No. 3 held the "Modern Pig Farming Hand in Hand" event today (2nd) at Chaohong City in Dajia District. The Lian family of Gaodeng Livestock Farm shared their experience in the inheritance of modern pig farming technology transition, and conveyed to the public the new image of modern pig farms in our country's pig industry combining smart technology pig farming, net-zero circular environmental sustainability, and emphasis on animal welfare. Various high-quality pork products were also prepared on-site for exhibition and sale, along with agricultural product promotion activities for citizens to taste and purchase.

Agriculture Bureau pointed out that the number of pigs being raised in Taichung City is about 83,900, accounting for about 1.6% of the national breeding population. Although the scale of pig breeding in Taichung City's livestock farms is not large, it is moving towards refined, professional, and technological management. Gaodeng Livestock Farm is a model of modern pig farming in Taichung City, having won the Shen Nong Award, Traceability Expert, and Top 100 Young Farmers in Pig Farming, using modern pig farming technology to raise the best pigs in Waipu District.

Agriculture Bureau stated that to strengthen biosecurity prevention measures in pig farms and increase the survival rate of piglets, improve the productivity of pig farms and achieve sustainable management goals. The city government actively promotes various pig industry policies, at the same time, the government guides livestock farms to build closed water curtain environmentally controlled pig houses. The modernized pig houses after renovation are supplemented with intelligent environmental temperature control systems, making the pig houses warm in winter and cool in summer, focusing on the welfare of pigs. The high-bed floor design of livestock farms maintains a clean growth environment for pigs, which not only reduces the amount of wastewater pollution but also allows the recycling of wastewater in the farm, greatly reducing production and feeding costs. The pig farm is odorless and water-saving, overturning the stereotypical impression of pig farms, and further achieving the comprehensive health goal of humane breeding, environmental sustainability, and scientific monitoring.

Today's event was attended by city councilors Shi Zhichang, Yang Qibang, Li Wenjie, Deputy Director of Agriculture Bureau Cai Yongsheng, Director of Environmental Protection Bureau Chen Hongyi, Director of the Northern Branch of the Livestock Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture Xiao Zhenwen, General Secretary of Waipu District Farmers' Association Li Jindong, Secretary of Houli District Farmers' Association Bai Xialang, Director of Taichung City Animal Protection and Health Inspection Office Zhou Baijun, Chairman of Taichung City Pig Farming Association Wang Wentong, and Section Chief of Waipu District Office Lin Xiujuan.
