The Digital Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government has actively developed a digital citizen platform. The upgraded "Taichung Pass" APP, launched last year, emerged victorious among 39 global projects, winning the 2024 GO SMART Award's top prize. Deputy Director Hui-Min Huang of the Digital Governance Bureau accepted the award yesterday (12th). The Digital Bureau noted that the Taichung Pass App has previously received the WITSA ICT “Outstanding Public Collaboration Service Award” and the ASOCIO ICT Award's “Digital Transformation Award” in late 2023, earning international recognition three times over. The Digital Bureau will continue to optimize the platform to enhance citizen convenience.

Director Gu-Long Lin of the Digital Governance Bureau noted that digital capability represents a city's future competitiveness. Taichung's consecutive international ICT awards demonstrate the successful implementation of its long-term smart city development strategy. The digital capability brings global attention to Taichung and, more importantly, establishes a digital platform to serve, convenience, and honor citizens by providing world-class services that enable Taichung residents to enjoy a smart and convenient lifestyle.

Deputy Director Huang highlighted that Taichung citizens have high standards, valuing not just digital transformation but also carbon reduction and net-zero transition. She invited citizens to witness Taichung's smart city achievements at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from March 19th to 22nd, noting that the exhibition will showcase numerous smart applications beyond the internationally recognized Taichung Pass App.

The Digital Bureau further explained that they integrated cross-departmental online services into the Taichung Pass digital citizen platform to implement digital governance, building upon the original “Taichung Shopping Festival APP”. The platform now encompasses services like e-counter, payment systems, complaint integration platforms, vaccine reservations, and functions of a digital citizen card. Members can enjoy special discounts from partner stores and participate in major Taichung events such as the “Taichung Shopping Festival”, “Taichung Hot Pot and Grill Festival”, and “Christmas Carnival” through a single APP, ultimately creating a convenient and happy “Taichung City Brand”.
