Taichung's promotion of transparent governance has received significant recognition. In the Executive Yuan's 2024 Open Data Evaluation, Taichung City Government won the Gold Quality and Popularity Award honors, making it the only local government to receive two major awards this year. The Executive Yuan held an award ceremony yesterday (10th), with Taichung City Government's Bureau of Digital Development Director Gu-Long Lin representing the city to receive the awards, demonstrating Taichung's recognition in transparent governance and open data, laying a solid foundation for "Smart Taichung."
Director Lin noted that the Digital Bureau actively implements Mayor Lu Shiow-yen's concepts of digital governance and transparent politics, promoting data openness and innovative applications. Through continuing open data review meetings and exchanges with civic communities, the bureau integrates government and community opinions to strengthen data quality, once again receiving the Executive Yuan's Gold Quality Award this year.
Director Lin pointed out that Taichung continues to make breakthroughs in promoting data set usability and convenience. This year, the city government's open data quality has been comprehensively upgraded, with the platinum label compliance rate increasing from 67% in 2023 to 100%, making Taichung the only city among the six special municipalities to comply with platinum standards fully. The Digital Bureau's "Taichung City 1:1000 Topographic Maps and Aerial Orthoimagery Data" also stood out from more than 50,000 datasets to win the Popularity Award. This data is unique among the six special municipalities, demonstrating the city government's dedication to data quality and highlighting its determination to promote data accessibility and practicality.
Director Lin emphasized that beyond receiving the Executive Yuan's double honors of the Open Data Gold Quality Award and Popularity Award, Taichung continuously optimizes and updates the quality and breadth of its open data promotion. Last year, the city won the Ministry of the Interior's TGOS Circulation Service Award for the 13th consecutive year and was also recognized with the 2024 Cloud and IoT Innovation Award, being the only local information unit to receive this award.
The Digital Bureau further explained that Taichung focuses on data quality and emphasizes data application aspects, especially in open data in transportation and agricultural sustainability fields, which have received high recognition from central competent authorities. Taichung ranks first in the number of high-value application datasets in these two fields. This sixth award win again breaks local government award records, demonstrating Taichung City's long-term emphasis on and solid promotion of open data.
