On the eve of the Lunar New Year, the Taichung City Government's Bureau of Digital Development and Tunghai University jointly organized the "AI Superman Happy Children Digital Camp," which launched with great excitement in Huanshan Village, Heping District! This event brought a three-day AI technology curriculum and digital exploration experience (January 20-22) to students at Pingdeng Elementary School in Heping District. Yesterday (21st), an achievement presentation was held, showcasing children using AI digital skills learned in the camp to create music boxes and operate robots. Bureau of Digital Development Director Lin Gu-long stated that with the advent of the digital era, the bureau has partnered with Tunghai University to meticulously design a series of educational and entertaining digital courses, injecting new vitality into rural education and creating a fun and educational winter camp memory for the children.
Director Lin pointed out that since taking office, Mayor Shiu-Yen Lu has proposed the strategic goal that "digital power is urban competitiveness," committed to integrating digital technology into city governance, expanding the scope of digital services, and reaching grassroots communities to provide citizens with tangible digital services. To bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas, the Digital Bureau has partnered with Tunghai University to bring AI education resources to rural schools, providing children with equal digital learning opportunities, implementing digital inclusion, enhancing digital literacy among diverse groups, accessing the latest AI technology resources, broadening diverse perspectives, and improving future competitiveness.
Tunghai University Public Affairs Director Chao-Hsi Huang noted that Tunghai University has long been dedicated to promoting AI digital education. This activity brought a professional team to Lishan, designing AI courses combining AI technology, digital art, and multiple disciplines. The curriculum invited Fubon Art Museum Deputy Director Yu-Chieh Lin to lead hands-on interactive courses exploring AI and art, allowing children to experience the charm of artistic creation through AI technology. Tunghai University instructor He-Yuan Chen's team also carefully arranged a series of AI operation and robotics courses.
The Digital Bureau explained that the "Bureau of Digital Governance" was officially renamed the "Bureau of Digital Development" on January 1 this year, symbolizing a strategic upgrade from "governance" to "development," strengthening cooperation with industry, government, academia, and research sectors to jointly advance Taichung's smart city development and create a happy, livable city. In the future, the bureau will continue to deepen cooperation with various sectors, expand the reach of AI education, reduce urban-rural disparities, benefit more rural children, and demonstrate the city government's determination to prioritize rural education development and implement digital equality.
Digital Bureau Director Gu-Long Lin, Tunghai University Public Affairs Director Chao-Hsi Huang, Heping District Mediation Committee Chairman Sheng-Ta Tsou, Pingdeng Elementary School Principal Tzu-Fen Liu, and Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration Lishan Management Station Director Ming-Chun Hung attended yesterday's AI Superman Happy Children Digital Camp achievement presentation. Taichung City Councilor Xiu-Ying Gu also participated on the first day of the camp to show concern for the curriculum, jointly planting seeds of hope for digital education in rural students.
