Don’t panic when the air raid alarm sounds! The Taichung City Police Department reminds citizens that when the air raid alarm goes off, they should immediately “take nearby shelter,” prioritizing entry into basements or air raid evacuation shelters, and follow instructions from police officers and civil defense personnel on site. If it is not possible to enter a shelter in time, people should choose a sturdy location away from windows and protect themselves according to the “Two-Wall Principle.” Moreover, Taichung Police’s official LINE account (ID: @tcpb) is the first in the nation to offer a fast way to locate shelter facilities, making it very convenient. The Police Department calls on the public to “familiarize themselves during peacetime and evacuate quickly in emergencies.” Knowing the locations of nearby shelters in advance helps respond swiftly and ensure safety during critical moments.

The Police Department explains that the “Two-Wall Principle” means the first wall can withstand impact while the second wall blocks flying debris, providing a basic protective barrier. If people are in areas without shelter facilities, they must remain calm, quickly find a suitable place to take shelter, and reduce the risk of injury.

The Police Department also reminds that being informed and familiar with evacuation routes during normal times is crucial. Citizens can check nearby air raid shelter facilities around their home or workplace through the Police Department’s official LINE account (ID: @tcpb). The operation is simple: just click on “Air Raid Shelter Facilities,” then click “Start Search,” “Share” on the top right, and “Send” to quickly learn about the five nearest shelters. The system also provides real-time navigation with Google Maps, making route planning convenient.

Additionally, citizens can use the “Police Services APP” to find shelter locations by following five steps: 1. Enable location services, 2. Download the APP, 3. Select the Air Raid Shelter section, 4. Choose a shelter point, 5. Activate the navigation function. This allows users to check and share shelter information anytime. It is recommended that citizens screenshot or download offline maps ahead of time, saving shelter information for frequently visited areas to ensure access even during emergencies or network outages, adding an extra layer of preparedness for safety.
