Women Welfare and Gender Equality Division

Women's welfare and gender equality are crucial social policies in a modernized country.
Gender equality is conducive to social inclusion and sustainable progress. This is why the Taichung City Government has been working very hard to promote gender equality.
The vision of women's welfare development is to assist women in balancing work and family through a service-delivery-oriented model that focuses on "enhancing women's rights, promoting gender equality, utilizing women's human capital, and caring for disadvantaged women," and incorporating a "gender-friendly perspective" into various rights protection and welfare services.
Since 2020, the Social Affairs Bureau has been celebrating Women's Day with a series of activities to honor classic women and to enable women to reinvent themselves and create their happiness.

The Garden of Girls is Asia's first exclusive space for girls.
In 2012, the United Nations declared October 11 as "International Day of the Girl Child". In 2015, the Social Affairs Bureau established Asia's first "Garden of Girls in Taichung" in Asia for young girls to "value girls and invest in them".
The Garden of Girls serves young girls aged 15 to 22, encouraging them to develop their inner potential and inspiring them to become a new force in society through their passion for gender equality and social participation.
The Garden of Girls provides many creative advocacy projects, such as the Girls' Gender Empowerment Project, the Girls' Dream Project, the Taiwan Girls' Day series, the Gender Thinking Salon, Girls' Movie Month, and the Girls' Special Exhibition for girls to realize their dreams. By conveying the spirit of femininity, gender equality awareness, and female influence, girls are given the opportunity for equitable development and self-realization.

Since its inception in 2018, the Gender Equality Forum has entered its fourth year, inviting government representatives, experts and scholars, and organizations from home and abroad to join the event each year to address different international issues on gender equality, making the Forum a dialogue platform for public and private sectors.
The 2021 Forum is scheduled for the end of this September, with the theme of Cross-domain Promotion of Gender Equality. Based on the 3Cs (CEDAW, CRC, CRPD), it will discuss topics related to children's rights and the rights of the physically challenged in gender equality.
